Hole by Hole Tips
#1- Reachable par 5 if you rip a drive over the trap. Danger is that you go
too far right and go OB with your drive.
#2- Long and right
are the two places to avoid on this par 3.
#3-Drive even to
or just short of fairway bunker, then avoid the right side completely on
your approach shot.
#4- Long par 4 requires an accurate
approach shot to avoid hazard right of green. Very deep green. Check
yardage and pin placement closely.
#5- Tight driving hole but
not too long. Get it to the 150 and then check your yardage to pin
for your uphill approach shot.
#6- Very short par 3.
Trap behind green is very hard to play out of if flag is on the left side
of green. Club selection is everything.
#7-Straighforward par
4. No need to be too long. Long is better than short on approach
shot.
#8- Long par 4. Driver hole for sure. Long or right on
approach shot are both bad news.
#9- Par 5. Not reachable for
most players. Second shot uphill. Lots of room short of green for layup.

Opened to rave reviews in 1999,
Woodmont Golf Club represents a collaboration between the Southeasts leading
homebuilder, John Wieland, and world renowned golf architect, Robert Trent Jones, Jr.
Located within the Woodmont Golf and Country Club community in north
Atlanta, Woodmont Golf Club is an $11.5 million golf experience offering playing
conditions and service on a par with the most exclusive private clubs. Nearly $1 million
annually is spent on golf course maintenance, putting Woodmont at the top of its class in
Atlanta. Dramatic views and elevation changes, the whitest bunker sand available, an
award-winning PGA staff, numerous lakes and streams, and a very unique clubhouse are just
a few of the reasons why you should consider a round of golf at Woodmont.
Webmaster's Notes
I've
now played Woodmont three times. I've really enjoyed myself each time
I've been there.. The staff is very
friendly and courteous. The clubhouse is now open. See an IPIX
image of the interior of the clubhouse HERE. In my opinion, the front nine is fun, but the back nine is even
better! Many of the greens have some BIG slopes to them so be careful which part of
the green you aim for. Often times a ball will land in one spot on the green and
make its way across the green while you watch in amazement from the fairway.
Woodmont is destined to become one of Atlanta's daily fee jewels for sure.
It's NOT a hop, skip and jump from downtown, but if you make the drive, you'll be
glad you did..... $11 million well spent!

Hole by Hole Tips (cont)
#10- Be careful not to hit your drive too far.. it may make the
creek. Very reachable if you're able to layup just short of creek with
your drive.
#11- short par 3. Distance is
everything.
#12- Favor left side with both drive and approach shot.
#13-
downhill par 3. Short hole from all but championship tees.
#14-
GREAT hole. Favor left side on drive setting up a mid iron to very
well protected green. Accurate approach is a MUST here.
#15-
challenging par 3. Anything right is totally dead.
#16-
3 shot par 5. Second shot should not cut corner too much. Well
protected green with several difficult pin positions (front left
especially tough).
#17- Favor left side with drive, then take
plenty of club to get to hole as many balls will come back to you.
#18-
3 shot hole for most players but reachable for some. Best layup is
far right setting up a good angle for approach shot.
